The search for the next "Australian Idol" has begun! Throughout
early 2009, the Australian Idol team of producers, judges
and hosts scoured Australia for outstanding talent.
Thousands of hopefuls auditioned and the Idol team were
handsomely rewarded with an enormous pool of potential
contestants, all vying for a place in the Idol history
books.
After intense debate by the selectors, these thousands

Auditions
Overall, about 35,000 people turned up for auditions across
Australia in 2009. Once again instruments and self-composed
songs were encouraged, allowing judges to see some already
fully rounded artists. The Australian Idol crew scoured
more cities and towns than ever before, reaching every
corner of this great brown land to unearth the cream of
