Here is a review of the performance show from ILAL posted
on the Inside Australian Idol World
Idol Forum:
"Apparently Guy and Kelly Clarkson were the only
performers to get out fairly unscathed by the judges,
who got into some kind of "who can make the nastiest
comment" competition.
Apparently the show is going to have to be heavily edited.
The German Idol was told he was "a cross between and
aerobics instructor and a porn star". Simon Cowell thorougly
bagged the Dutch guy and told him he couldn't understand
how he won. Heinz from South Africa copped a bagging
as well and our very own Dicko told the Canadian Idol
his performance was full of neurosis. The Belgian guy
apparently got fired up and told one of the judges:
"Who are you to judge me to be real?" after Waterman
(of Stock, Aitken and Waterman fame) told him he was
a fake.
Oh, and Simon Cowell told Norweigian Idol Kurt that
he was ugly. Dicko told him: "You have the voice of
an angel and the face of a hobbit. If they had a Middle
Earth Idol, you'd be it."
Guy said after the show that he was disappointed. "I
thought this was going to be a beautiful thing, a celebration
of music from around the world, of different cultures
coming together. Instead we got a slagging match that
upstaged all the idols."
And
on Guy at World Idol:
"Dutch judge: didn't like Guy's arrangement of
Wonderful World but said his "charisma and voice makes
him a potential world idol".
German: "Guy, I think it's incredible what you do. You
have so much stage presence. I didn't like the arrangement
but you have so much charisma I think you are going
to go a long way.
Waterman (UK): "I don't find it the most original voice
I have ever heard. But singing is about entertaining
and you certainly entertained. You have a strong chance,
young man."
Dicko: "I can't begin to tell you how proud I am with
you representing my adopted country in my homeland.
Just showing off what I think is one of the best talents
I have seen for a long time."
That's all I know. But it sounds pretty positive!
Please excuse any typos, I was in a hurry to get this
out to you."
