Finalists
The search for our second "Australian Idol" has begun!
Throughout April and May, the Australian Idol team of
producers, judges and hosts scoured Australia for outstanding
talent. Thousands of hopefuls auditioned and the Idol
team were handsomely rewarded with an enormous pool of
potential contestants, all vying for a place in the Idol
history books. After intense debate by the selectors,
these thousands of hopefuls were reduced to just 100.
The top 100 contestants went through to the next major
competition round which was held over a week in June.
Their performances were recorded in Sydney at the Seymour
Centre. Of these 100 participants, just 25 will progress
to the next performance round.
Once the top 25 have been selected, they will be split
into smaller groups. Over two weeks the group of males
and females will be featured on the performance shows.
Viewers then have the chance to cast their vote for who
progresses through to the finals. Through this voting
process, the top 25 will be trimmed down to just ten finalists.
From mid September, these ten finalists will perform in
front of a massive studio audience and the show will be
broadcast live. At the end of each live show, the studio
audience and the home viewers will be able to vote for
their favourite performer through phone and SMS votes.
Each week, the number of performers will be reduced until
there are only two contestants left standing.
In a major live event, the final episode will feature
these two aspiring stars competing for the ultimate title
of Australian Idol, chosen by the national TV audience.
The next Australian Idol will then be announced.
